About Us

The Strength to Stand Student Bible Conferences are designed to offer a well-balanced, intense conference that will challenge your students to go beyond the surface of casual Christianity and bring them into a lifetime commitment to Jesus Christ. Born of a vision to see thousands of students congregating in the Great Smoky Mountains these conferences are designed for students yearning for a deeper, more effective relationship with Christ. In addition to discipleship, students will be given the opportunity to respond to the Gospel. We make no apology in confronting lost students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The conferences are under the supervision of the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association, Inc., which is recognized by the IRS as a nonprofit organization. Since 1987, this Association has been actively involved in conference ministries throughout the United States.

theme

If there was ever a time for you to open your mind to Think Different, now is the time! When the world tells you to think different, it causes confusion making you question who you are or why you even exist. The Gospel calls us to Think Different in a way that places all our focus on the power of Jesus and then sends us out to change the world!

When you Think Different, it causes a transformation of how you think about everything – your daily activities, how you view the world and the people that are around you every day.

Jesus loves in a different way than we tend to love. He loves unconditionally.  We tend to put conditions on the people we love. Like when we never forget when a person hurts us, or only love when it is convenient for us, but Jesus is not that way! He forgave us and sacrificed Himself, which is the ultimate example of Thinking Different!

Everyday, we can walk in an expectant, excited way while learning to love better as we trust His promises in Lamentations 3:22-24:

"God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
He’s all I’ve got left.”

As we join together for the Strength to Stand conference, we will challenge one another to Think Different.  We will begin with 1 Corinthians 10:31 which  says, “…whatever you do, do to the Glory of God”. We will challenge you to inspect every aspect of your life, to really examine Christ’s love for you and challenge you to Think Different in everything you do!

conference attendees

The conferences target students from sixth grade through college. Due to insurance regulations, it is Strength to Stand's policy to require each person to be in the sixth grade or at least twelve years of age. Because we try to effectively minister to such a wide range of students, please refrain from bringing younger children unless you acquire special permission from Strength to Stand.

counselors

Strength to Stand requires that for the first three (3) students of the same gender, one (1) counselor of that gender must be present. Then, for every five (5) students of the same gender at least one (1) counselor is required. We encourage you to bring as many counselors as possible.

A counselor should be mature, a member of your church, a Christian, at least 21 years of age, and should be balanced according to genders. You must have one counselor highlighted as the person in charge of your group. Unless otherwise noted, this will be the Student Minister. Please choose your counselors carefully.
